ANC 1C: Welcome to New Residents

Dear Neighbor:

Welcome to the greater Adams Morgan community! As you settle in, we invite you to take an active interest in the decisions and debates that affect you and your neighbors.

Be sure to register to vote. As a new resident, you may need to register for the first time in the District of Columbia; residents who relocate to this neighborhood from elsewhere in the city should update their voter registration information. You can receive a voter registration form by e-mailing your commissioner via this Web site, by calling the ANC at 202-332-2630, or by contacting the D.C. Board of Elections directly.

You are also invited to attend meetings of ANC 1C. They are held the first Wednesday of each month, usually at 7:00 p.m. at Mary's Center, pink building, 2355 Ontario Rd., NW. These public meetings not only help you keep up on important initiatives in this community, they also provide a forum in which you can air your own concerns, questions, or opinions about neighborhood issues.

Another great way to stay informed electronically is through the Adams Morgan ONElist. It's a free e-mail listserv that sends messages to residents in this community about upcoming events, public safety issues, bright ideas, even classifieds. To subscribe automatically, simply send an e-mail to AdamsMorgan-subscribe@onelist.com. A reply e-mail will tell you how to use the newsletter.

Your own ANC commissioner will be happy to hear from you. Let him or her know that you are a new resident. To find out the name and contact information for your commissioner, click on Our Commissioners or ANC 1C Single-Member Districts.
