Greetings!

Just wanted to send you all some information about upcoming meetings and neighborhood events that you should be aware of. If you have questions about any of these events, please don't hesitate to let me know:

Thursday Oct. 26--The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a Town Hall Speak Out for residents of Ward One from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Parkview Recreation Center (693 Otis Place, NW). Got something to say about how DPR is running city parks? Now's your chance to let them know.

Thu. Oct. 26 7 p.m. Guy Mason Rec. Center 3600 Calvert St., NW (Glover Park)
WMATA proposed service changes on routes 90, 92, 93, 96 and 97.

• Shorten 90, 92 and 93 routes to run between Anacostia and Congress Heights stations and Duke Ellington Bridge.
• Extend 96 route to run from Duke Ellington Bridge to McLean Gardens and replace discontinued 90, 92 and 93 service in that area.

Wednesday Nov. 1--ANC1C will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Mary's Center (2355 Ontario Rd., NW; the pink building). Possibly on the agenda will be a discussion about turning the former site of the First Church of Christ Science (Euclid & Champlain) into a small boutique hotel.

Saturday Nov. 4--It's time to clean up Walter Pierce Park. On Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. we'll be weeding, mulching, picking up trash and doing general maintenance around the park. Bring gloves if you have them (although we've got some you can borrow) and we'll provide the rest. Refreshments will be served.

Tuesday Nov. 7--[I]t's Election Day! Don't forget to vote...

Wednesday Nov. 8--ANC1C's ABC& Public Safety Committee meeting. In addition to addressing crime issues in the neighborhood, we'll also be discussing the impact the upcoming smoking ban will have on the neighborhood and how we (the ANC and the community) can work with the bars and restaurants to minimize the impact.
