ANC 1C Grants Awarded

Since the start of FY03 (October 1, 2003) the Adams Morgan
Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC1C) has provided more than $45,000 in
grant monies to neighborhood nonprofits or nonprofits that work for the
betterment of those living in Adams Morgan.
The following is a sampling of the grants ANC1C has provided as of June 2007:
- Adams Morgan
MainStreet - $1,000 to assist with a tree planting; $1325 for park
improvements to Llorente Park; $1,000 for programmatic costs.
- Capital City Public
Charter School - $1,000 for a student-produced book on homelessness.
- City Arts - $1,000 to provide supplies for a mural at 18th
& Florida.
- CHIME - $1,000 to help with programmatic costs in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
- Community of
Hope - $1,000 for a phlebotomy chair at the medical center.
- Council of Latino Agencies - $1,000
to help with community outreach efforts.
- Emmaus - $3000
for holiday gifts for seniors.
- Friends of Walter
Pierce Park - $1395 for safety mulch; $1,000 for chess tables.
- Fund
for Kalorama Park - $1,000 for ping pong and pool/air hockey table; $1,000
for programmatic supplies.
- Good Shepherd Teen Learning Center - $1,000 to support the
purchase of items for the after school program.
- Help DC Help DC - $1,000 to help with the construction of
Champorama Park.
- H.I.P.S. - $1,000 to
support the purchase of a new refrigerator for their offices.
- Hoops Sagrado - $1,000
to fund a neighborhood basketball tournament; $2,000 for duffle bags, transportation
and uniforms for summer program in 2005 and 2006.
- International Migrant’s Fund - $1,000 to help reproduce
educational literature.
- Jubilee
Housing - $1,000 for security camera; $1,000 for pre-construction and design
costs; $1,000 for programmatic costs.
- Jubilee Jobs - $1,000
for a photocopier.
- Kalorama Citizens
Association - $1,000 to help with the archeological survey in Walter Pierce
Park; $600 to defray costs for the Washington Heights Historical Survey.
- Mary’s Center - $800
for after school program materials.
- MPD Reserve Corps - $1000 for an additional mountain bike.
- Reed-Cooke Neighborhood Association - $1,500 to support
sending the band from H.D. Cooke elementary school to Kings Dominion for a
competition.
- Sarah’s Circle - $1,000
for security equipment.
- Sitar Center - $1,000
for costumes for a summer production and $2,000 for programmatic costs in 2004
and 2005.
- Sol y Sol - $1,000 to
supplies to repair the mural at 1815 Adams Mill Rd.
- Street Sense - $5,000
to run ads in each issue listing meeting dates and locations.
- Urban Rangers - $1000
for a neighborhood history museum.
- We Are Family - $2,000 to purchase holiday gifts for seniors.
- Young
Playwrights - $600 for transportation fees.
