ANC 1C: 3D's Adopt A Block

Information for residents on the Metropolitan Police Department Third District's (3D) Adopt A Block program in PSA 303. The boundaries of ANC 1C (Adams Morgan) correspond to PSA 303.

How Adopt A Block or Park Works

Each Patrol Service Area (PSA) officer adopts a block or park within her or his assigned PSA. The block officer is the block's liaison officer and establishes a relationship with residents in the block/park, doing everything possible to make that particular block/park a better place for the people who live or work there.

The block officers:

1. Go door to door introducing themselves
2. Leave a flyer explaining the adopt a block program and providing contact information: PSA assignment, phone number and email address
3. Follow up on their own initiative with residents of their block who are victims of crime or otherwise in need of the services of the MPD
4. Survey the block and request action from the CORE team on issues such as street light replacement, tree trimming requests, trash removal, abandoned car removal, etc.
5. Conduct weekly door knocks to survey residents for problems or concerns within the block such as drug activity, suspicious activity, etc
6. Invite residents to participate in scheduled PSA meetings
